Ingredients

  • 8 honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch dice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • dash of freshly ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cooking Instructions


Step 1

  • Using a large saucepan, add the apples, water, regular and brown sugars, lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Step 2

  • Place over high heat and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and cook, uncovered, for 35 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Length: 35 minutes

Step 3

  • Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Allow to cool slightly.Once cool enough to handle, place in a kitchen mixer, such as a Cusinart, fitted with a blade attachment and puree until smooth.
